Community Employment Services

Helping individuals with disabilities to find competitive employment is the goal of Goodwill’s Community Employment Services. Goodwill assists persons with disabilities in preparing for successful job placement and job retention by utilizing Goodwill Industries International’s Career Development Model. Goodwill’s services include instruction or assistance with applications, résumés, and cover letters; interviewing techniques; life and social skills; job shadowing, Community-Based Work Assessments, and on the job experience; placements services; and job coaching.

Recovery and Community Integration

Goodwill’s Recovery and Community Integration Department includes Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Peer Support, and New Beginnings Drop-In Center (in Indiana, PA). These programs assist individuals 18 and older who are living with a serious mental illness to achieve independence in the community.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services

Goodwill’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation program provides a variety of services to help a person reach their goals. Examples of Real-Life Skills you can learn in Psych Rehab are:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking
  • Developing and maintaining healthy relationships
  • Making healthy lifestyle choices
  • Getting a GED, diploma, or degree
  • Using public transportation
  • and much, much more
Peer Support Services

Goodwill’s Peer Support services are provided by Certified Peer Specialists who have personal experience with mental illness and first-hand knowledge of the recovery process. They collaborate with mental health professionals to work on Individual Recovery Plans. Services are offered one-on-one in the community seven days per week and during nontraditional hours.

New Beginnings Drop-In Center

iDIC PhotoGoodwill’s New Beginnings Drop-In Center, located in Indiana, PA, offers a supportive environment for adults in recovery from mental illness, their family members, and their friends, to get information about mental illness and wellness, connect with community resources, and participate in activities that focus on recovery and self-empowerment.

New Beginnings strives to help individuals improve the quality of all aspects of their lives, including social, occupational, educational, residential, intellectual, spiritual, and financial.

New Beginnings is a recovery-oriented, member-run program that offers structured activities and groups chosen by the members. The center also provides opportunities to just drop in and spend time with other people who share the common goal of recovery.

No referral is needed. Just drop in.
