Goodwill Received Charitable Donation from USSCO Federal Credit Union
December 14, 2012, Press ReleaseJOHNSTOWN, PA, December 14, 2012—Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies has received a donation from the USSCO Federal Credit Union as part of USSCO’s annual giving program to local charities that support children and families. Each of USSCO’s four branch locations has the opportunity to select an organization that is within its own community. USSCO’s Moxham branch selected Goodwill, whose administrative headquarters is literally in the credit union’s back yard, because of the many services Goodwill provides to youth such as mentoring, on-the-job training, and career and education guidance. USSCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Todd Cover presented the donation to Goodwill’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Phyllis J. Bandstra at the agency’s headquarters.
Goodwill will use the donation to support its GoodGuides® Youth Mentoring Program that, though a structured and selective process, matches caring, adult volunteer mentors with youth ages 12–17. The program creates a support system for youth to build positive relationships with adult role models in the community and provides youth with opportunities to gain the skills to succeed in high school, postsecondary education/ training programs, and future careers. Since GoodGuides began in January 2010, the program has successfully facilitated more than 100 mentor-youth matches.
