New Name and Logo for Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley
January 1, 2017, Press ReleaseJOHNSTOWN, PA, January 1, 2017—Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley, Inc.’s board of directors announces a change to the independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization’s name effective January 1, 2017. The new name is Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies.
Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies is headquartered in the Moxham section of Johnstown, Cambria County, and operates 10 Goodwill Retail Stores located in Altoona, Bedford, Blairsville, Ebensburg, Huntingdon, Indiana, Latrobe, Richland, Somerset, and Westwood. Revenue from the sale of donated goods supports its mission of empowering individuals and families with employment barriers to achieve their fullest potential in the community through work services. Adult and youth services include education and career services, job placement, postemployment supports, and psychiatric rehabilitation. The organization is an independent, community-based member organization of Goodwill Industries International, a 179-member network in the U.S., Canada, and 13 other countries.
Michael Hruska, Goodwill’s Board Chair, and the President and CEO of Problem Solutions, stated, “We changed the name to more accurately represent the 6 ½ counties that the agency serves—Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Huntingdon, Indiana, Somerset, and a portion of Westmoreland.”
Goodwill’s President and CEO, Bradley R. Burger added, “We are confident that the Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies name will continue the respected reputation of empowering individuals and families with employment barriers to achieve their fullest potential in the community through work services.”
The name change is also represented by a new logo.
The former website address of www.gicv.org has changed to www.GoGoodwill.org.
