Renee M. Shaw Awarded Certified Workforce Development Professional Credential

JOHNSTOWN, PA, OCTOBER 9, 2015— Renee M. Shaw, Business Services Coordinator with Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, has been awarded the Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP).

Web_Renee ShawWorkforce Development Professionals facilitate the process by which individuals identify, prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment and self-sufficiency; and assist businesses with accessing and retaining a quality workforce. The CWDP recognizes the training, experience, and expertise of professionals in the field.

“Ms. Shaw exemplifies the degree of professionalism and commitment to excellence that America needs if it is to continue to enjoy a world-class workforce,” said NAWDP Executive Director, Bridget Brown.

The CWDP program is administered and endorsed by the NAWDP, a national association for individual practitioners in the workforce development profession, with over 4,000 members. Its mission is to be the national voice for the profession and to meet the individual professional development needs of its membership.

Employed by Goodwill, Shaw is Cambria County CareerLink’s Business Services Coordinator, responsible for meeting with business contacts to educate and promote priorities of PA CareerLink. Goodwill holds the Title I contract for the U.S. Department of Labor-funded Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), made possible through the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Development Board, the region’s leader and active partner in workforce development efforts.

Through this contract, Goodwill, along with partners, provides comprehensive job training and employment services at the PA CareerLink, Cambria County to connect employers and job seekers through a One-Stop Approach located inside the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center (former Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech) at 445 Schoolhouse Road, Johnstown, Pennsylvania in Richland Township.

Shaw supports PA CareerLink priorities that include working in the areas of on-the-job training, job profiling, and industry-sector strategies in order to meet the employer and business needs of the area. In addition, she works with PA CareerLink staff to promote program awareness through participation in business events, advisory boards, chamber activities, and local consortia.
