Waste Art 2016
Waste Art 2016
In November 2015, prequalified artists from six counties in Goodwill’s territory took part in a “dumpster dive” at Goodwill’s 93,000 square-foot warehouse to choose salvage materials that would later become works of art. They had the next four months to work on their creations, comprised of at least 50% of their selected materials.
Their one-of-a-kind creations were exhibited for the community on April 20, 2016 (Earth Day) at Goodwill’s Waste Art: 1st Annual Recycled Art Exhibition, a venture of the agency’s Creative Upcycle Exchange—a program designed to extend the lifecycle of unsold goods and industrial byproducts by directing those materials into the hands of artists, crafters, do-it-yourselfers, makers, and educators rather than sending them to the landfills.
